Luckily nothing was stolen because i had come home early.

But now that i think of it, what can i do around the house to tighten my home’s security and ensure that it is much more difficult for burglars to break into there? (even if they are small things)

Thanks so much! Im so worried and scared because i have kids…

Answer:

An easy and inexpensive way to make your house more secure is lights and timers. Burglers don’t like lighted houses – they may have someone home. Put outside lights on timers to come on at dusk. Always leave a light or two on when you are gone to give the appearance there is someone there. If you are going to be gone for a day or two, put a radio and some interior lights on a timer and make sure someone picks up your mail and newspaper.

Another idea is to buy a portable alarm device from Home Depot. It is a motion sensing device that works on batteries and makes a piercing sound when activated. It will last for months on a set of batteries. I put mine on every night and it makes me feel secure at knight.
It will depend on your living arrangements whether this will help or not.
    Good Luck!

Start at the point of the recent break-in. Then check to see if there are other points with the same weakness. Pieces of wood that prevent windows from being opened from outside, motion detectors with lights, noise from a radio on inside the home all deter burglars.
